Released in September 2025, this collection of compositions by Ian Pillow was recorded in two separate sessions in the Summer of 2024. I was the producer/engineer for the London date, when we recorded the 3 Songs of Mary for soprano and string quartet. Anna Gregg and Icon Strings gave a superb performance of these very challenging pieces, so much so that what was supposed to be a private archival recording for the composer ended up being picked up by Prima Facie Records, who specialise in world premiere recordings of British composers. Ian has spent most of his life immersed in orchestras playing romantic repertoire, so while his musical language spans quite a range of styles, it will feel familiar to any music lover (but still offer quite a few delightful surprises).
